This week has been slow. I hate living in rural land, there’s nothing to do. And to cap it all off I’ve been working all week. I work Monday to Friday from 6am to 3pm doing manual labour. I make roof tiles for a living you see when I’m home over the summer. For this I get paid a stupid amount of money, £1250 a month plus bonuses and the tax man gets precisely none of it. However there are things I hate about my job:
- The hours. 6am? I have trouble getting up at 8am for my 9am lectures.
- The work. It’s heavy work and I end up sweaty and covered in shit at the end of every day. Plus my back aches a lot.
- Some of the people. Not all of them, some of them are fine. There are a couple who do my bloody head in though.
- The Cloak Verge plant…or as I call it “The Shed of Evil™”. It’s crap and the work is god awful.
This is the downside to being a student. I have to fund a large chunk of it myself which means doing this god awful job for 3 and a half months.
Thursday night I went to the pub with my friends in Lockerbie (I live about 4 miles away). Unfortunately I was the only male there in the company of 4 women. So I spent a goodly chunk of the evening looking utterly perplexed as I didn’t have a clue what they were talking about. Stuart would’ve came…but decided he couldn’t be arsed. For this he will pay dearly. Whoever said gay men like hanging around with women and discussing girly things has never met me. I was so confused…
Last night I went to the pub in Annan to catch up with Mat and Andrew. They’re friends of mine from Uni who live 20 minutes away, which is weird. Was good seeing them again and I got quite tipsy on 3 pints of cider. I’m gonna hope it was due to not drinking in a while and not that I’m the uber-lightweight from hell.
The best part of this week was getting my holiday sorted out. I’m going to London for a few days in July with Rob. I’ve never been to London before so that alone is going to be cool. What makes it better is that I get to be with Rob for a few days XD. Shockingly enough this makes me very, very happy. I don’t get to see him as often as I’d like to so I try to make the most of what time we get together.
